As many of you may already know, once you are a TDR Bride, you join our family! We have our private Facebook group for TDR BRIDES ONLY, we chat every single day, we laugh, we cry and most importantly we support each other along every single step of the way and it is just beautiful!

So, to get to know our brides and their fiancé’s a little more, we asked them to share their proposal story and many of them, so kindly did! And WOW…we were definitely brought to tears with some of these stories, they are absolutely beautiful and we would LOVE to share them with you!

    Heather’s Proposal Story…

I was coming to the end of my first year at Cambridge University. For weeks I had been looking forward to ‘May Week’ (a huge tradition in Cambridge where each college holds a formal ball for students to celebrate the end of the year), my mum and I had gone dress shopping for a knock out outfit and I couldn’t wait for what was set to be a magical night.

My fiancé, Jon, travelled down on the morning of the ball and surprised me by telling me that my parents had booked us a room at this beautiful hotel in Cambridge! When we arrived, the receptionist gave us a bottle of champagne and we even had strawberries in the room, explaining that it was part of the deal that my parents had got, I felt so lucky. We got ready for the ball and arrived in style. I felt a million dollars, however Jon had fallen decidedly quiet. He was barely eating, had nothing to drink and said he had an awful headache, I was devastated that he had fallen ill on such a magical evening!

Just before midnight, the main act of the night, James Bay took to the stage and Jon asked if we could stand at the back, away from the crowds as he was feeling ill. However, during James Bays set, Jon got on one knee and popped the question! I was absolutely overcome with emotion and could barely get my words out through the tears of happiness! We phoned around our family (who had know about the WHOLE thing for over 4 months – hence the fancy hotel and champagne!) And danced the night away, Jon’s mystery illness soon disappeared (definitely brought on by nerves!).

The next day, when we returned to my uni digs, my friends had left bridal magazines and chocolates under my door, EVERYONE had known except me (still something that impresses me to this day 😂). It was a magical, unforgettable evening, and one that I will never ever forget. My boy did good ❤

Thank you SO much to each and every one of our brides for sharing your beautiful stories with us. We have absolutely loved reading them and we are SO excited to continue with you on this magical journey from Miss to Mrs 💓💓💓

    Laura’s Proposal Story…

It was a Sunday morning the day after I did Race for Life at home. He got up first to cook me breakfast to help me recover & as a treat. I came down about 15mins later and hadn’t noticed he’d cleared the kitchen table but as I was sore went and sat on the sofa in the lounge watching come dine with me. He brought the food in (sausage, bacon, egg, avocado & homemade hash brown) and cleared the coffee table. Then put the plates to one side, paused the tv and said “you’ve probably guessed what I’m doing” I hadn’t a clue!

He had told the night before when we went out for a special meal it would be another 6 months before he got down on one knee and told me how I was the one got him and would I marry him. I said yes through my tears. Oh breakfast went cold calling people. Should have clocked as he bought 2 bottles of prosecco to congratulate me on the run.

    Jade’s Proposal Story…

We were in Amsterdam and josh asked to go for a walk along the canals. In my head I was thinking “why!! It’s bloody freezing!” But I went along with it. We got to this bridge and I asked him to take a picture of me and I wasn’t happy so he had to take another one and he wasn’t impressed! 😂 so as I’m checking my pictures. He tells me he loves me and I said yes love I know and he replied.. “no really love you” and I turned and said “yes josh!” And he was on one knee.. and that’s when he asked me.. 😍 I then went to the floor with him! And asked if he was joking!! It was amazing, I can’t describe the feeling ❤ only us two would be sat on the floor during a special moment 😂

Best Thing About Being a TDR Bride

Here at TDR we are always striving to create an unforgettable service for each one of our brides and after our 10 years in the bridal industry we truly believe this is what we have achieved!

But…we wanted just wanted to make sure we were doing it right…so, we asked our brides to tell us what they thought the best thing about being a TDR bride is, and this is the response we got…(WOW!)

    Emma Reader

I’m Miss …Soon to be a Mrs. I’m a TDR Bride to Be…The outstanding service & Support I have received 5* all round! From finding my perfect gown and feeling beautiful, to having a selfie with the girls in the shop. Communication is always the best. I travel over an hour for your shop and I would travel 5 more. It’s worth it, Service, Gowns, Accessories, Decor of the shop and the staff. Can’t thank you all enough! Bring on August!!!

    Julia Darby 25.08.2018

I’m a Miss, soon to be Mrs in August! 🙈 Eek! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Jackie made every experience for me great. She picked me out my dress in the end, after me trying on a few because she listened to everything I’d said. She hung it up and I just went “that’s the one” before I’d even tried it on and it was just like the first dress I’d imagined when I started looking. I’d been to another bridal shop beforehand and got exactly the experience I was afraid of…feeling uncomfortable and the woman was actually incredibly rude to me! So, coming to TDR was like a breath of fresh air, even though the shop is beautifully decorated all the staff are down to earth and really welcoming. Nothing ever seems to be an inconvenience, I’ve always been able to get an appointment easily. I find the TDR group an enormous amount of help and support and I can’t wait to come in for the alterations xx

    Katie Hartshorn 28.10.2017

I am a VERY proud to have been TDR Bride!! The best part about being part of the TDR group is becoming a part of the TDR family! There is literally nothing better than the feeling of those beautiful ladies taking you right under their wing providing a top-class service making every inch of your wedding dress dream a reality! They made me feel like an absolute Princess in my dress and accessories! If it wasn’t for the expense 😖 I would do it all again, and I would do it all again with the TDR queens!👌😍 wedding date 28.10.2017…(I’ll attach some photos now) xx

    Zoe Stankevitch 01.03.2019

I am a Miss soon to be Mrs Rhodes 2019 and I had the pleasure of choosing my wedding dress with the amazing Gail who seriously went above and beyond for me. From the very first day the team at TDR we’re so welcoming and patient and I chose my perfect dress. When I went back with my partners nan and my mom the girls welcomed us all we all felt like part of the family!! I have recommended you to everyone I hear is getting married you all gave me the best experience I could imagine.
Thank you girls your just amazing

    Stacey Baker 26.08.2018

100% the service that I (and everyone else seems to have received) should be the most blogged about thing!
Della helped me from my first time at the NEC stand, to finding my dress, to helping choose the best accessories… but all of the staff I have come into contact with have been amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble. I never felt pressured into spending huge amounts of money like I have in other stores before TDR and I love hearing about other people’s weddings on here!!!
Stacey baker (to be Mrs Ray) 26 August 2018 xx 😘

    Natalie Lewis 26.05.2018

Soon to be a Mrs! The best thing for me was being empowered in the shop to buy the type of dress I wanted. I was nervous at picking a gown. My family said I would not find one as I was obese (at size 18) and needed to cover up my fat legs and the surgical scars on my arms. The ladies at TDR focused on what I was comfortable with, what my dream was, and handled my family expertly. I don’t believe that I could have gotten the same outcome anywhere else. I am so excited at finally seeing my dress.

    Ali’s Proposal Story…

We too were on holiday on a road trip across Spain. The back story makes it a bit more special for me as we had been together for 6 years like others and my fiancé had been anti marriage for our whole relationship so I had no expectations of marriage whatsoever!

We were staying over in Segovia for one night and after a long day of walking all along their famous aquaduct, we planned to relax on the hotel rooftop which was billed as a rooftop terrace overlooking the aquaduct. Turns out it was just a roof, but we dragged chairs up there anyway. My fiancé said he was off to get us some drinks, whilst I was blissfully unaware, he disappeared for a while only to find the hotel had no bar so then raced out into the village to find a shop with champagne, then try and explain to a waitress in a restaurant in the middle of rural Spain that he wanted to buy/borrow champagne flutes.

He ended up having to get down on one knee to the waitress to try and show her what he meant so we still joke that he proposed to the waitress before asking me! He then arrived back on the roof with the receptionist hidden behind him armed with a camera who really captured the moment, which was essentially shock!

Thanks for the opportunity to tell the story, I’ll never tire of it!

    Victoria’s Proposal Story…

It was 10th December 2016 & we were in my home town of Halifax celebrating Christmas with my family (& his parents) as we were going on a cruise for Christmas.

Whilst waiting for our desserts, my Dad did a speech wishing everyone Merry Christmas & then my fiancé stood up & not long after said “Vicki told me the other day that we have been together 6 years.” (Everyone cheered 🤣) Then he said “anyone who can put up with me for that long deserves a medal…..or a ring!!” & then he got down on one knee! 😍😍 😍

    Laura’s Proposal Story…

We were in New York. It was my birthday on the penultimate day and he had planned to propose then, but I had a very laid back view of how I’d like the day to go so wasn’t in a hurry to get anywhere. I just wanted to soak up New Yorker life (unbeknownst to me he was waiting for the perfect opportunity to propose 😂) so that day comes and goes and it’s our final day.

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and our suite was beautiful, but I was having a little cry in the morning 😂😂 mostly because I had the sorest back, I’ve never suffered from a bad back before or since but it was so sore whilst we were away so I was crying. I was a bit jet lagged and I was also a bit sad that he hadn’t bought me a birthday card 🙈 (am I the only one who likes a good card??)

So I’m having this moment, sat in my Jurassic Park pyjamas being a baby 😂 (in hindsight I can laugh about it but at the time I was very sad ha!!) and he’s trying to console me, distracting me with the plans for the day and apologising for not getting me a card, where out of no where, he lays down on the bed with me, apologises again for not getting me a card, but tells me ‘I did get you this’ and there was the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen…and I cried some more half hysterically laughing 😂😂😂 best memory ever ❤️

    Beth’s Proposal Story…

We were on holiday in Croatia and we were out on an excursion. Our last stop of the day was a village in the middle of the countryside which is considered an artist’s retreat and is sat on top of one of the largest hills in the area, with amazing views.

We wandered around the village and we’re going to get a drink. My fiancé is a keen photographer and wanted to get his gopro out of his bag to get some wide angle shots of the beautiful scenery. Little did I know the gopro was already out and sat on a rock nearby, recording us. He had placed it there so he could record the proposal to show our families when we got home.

Of course I said yes and I regularly watch that video, it still brings me to tears!

We went lots of places and he booked a big family meal at a posh steak house, he was acting a tad shifty, he got up in front of all my family told me I looked absolutely beautiful and got down on one knee! And said “Vickie you’re my entire world and more you and Joel mean more to me than life itself. I know it’s soon but I can’t imagine being with anyone else but a queen like you!”

Never in a million years did I think I’d be this happy! He already asked my dad for approval and even booked an engagement party (god knows if I’d of said no!) seriously can’t wait to marry the person who made my life complete 💍
